Midterm: Finding the Color of Any Concept

With the Tate Modern’s collection of artworks, I used a variety of programming techniques such as regular expressions to find what color artists have associated different terms and phrases with. Despite being a visual task, many of the data wrangling operations dealt with text and string data!

  1. Nice project Mason! This is such a fun idea, and I spent way too long typing random words into it. My favorite part of the write-up was the fix for the paper color drowning everything out. Scoring the top six colors to skip the dull ones is a really clever solution, and it makes sense that grouping similar shades made such a big difference.
