My mid-term is posted as a blog on this website. This project uses data visualization to explore the actions and experiences of X-Men comic book characters. By cleaning and aggregating character-level data in R and creating interactive charts in Flourish, it highlights patterns in characters’ experiences, such as how often they were captured, killed.

  1. Hi Rigley, I really like how you used both a bar chart and a radar chart to explore the X-Men characters. It’s interesting to see how Colossus and Wolverine were captured the most. I am using the same data set but I only analyze my stuff using a single graph. I saw that when combining two graphs, more details may appear. In addition, I also wonder how the results might change if we considered how often each character appears.

  2. Hi Rigley, I really like how you formatted your website. Those images really drew me into the website. However, I think your data presentation amazed me most. The bar chart and the radar chart that help illustrate the story were a terrific design, which establishes the ground for deeper interpretation of comic characters. Because my project was a map design, I didn’t have much access to data (also because of the source I chose). I think you really opened up my perspective. I’m looking forward to seeing more projects like this.
