I have some experience of making a website before, but editing my website through wordpress is actually a new experience for me. The process of editing the website is simplified by directly applying proper themes and editing it. Rather than writing code, which requires redundant progress of declaration for everything you plan to show on your site, WordPress visualizes all the changes and provides immediate feedback to every step you take.
I put general information on the primary page of my website and linked it to an about page that contains more detailed information. However, I failed to find a way of linking the primary page to the other page I have made, so I gave up.
I am not sure about what I should do with the website. To solve the problem, I leave a comment space at the bottom of it so that anyone can provide me with some advice about what I should do. Owning a personal server is quite different from using social media. When owning a server, I have higher flexibility to choose what to post. However, owning a server is actually more complex than using social media, which has a mature design to simplify the progress of posting something. In the next several weeks, I may make some changes to my website, hopefully, I can get some useful comments.
Hi Peter,
I really like the image of the fish on your website and how you set your website up. But another thing that caught my attention is the concept of “flexibility” you mentioned in your reflection. As someone new to web development, I found a lot of freedom in setting up a website. You can dictate every single element on your webpage. At the same time, you have a perfect sense of what you are dealing with. The process of starting from scratch to a fully developed website is a truly rewarding experience.
I like how you compared your previous experience with making websites to using WordPress. I also think the visual editing and immediate feedback make WordPress much easier than writing everything from scratch. It’s interesting that you left a comment space for people to give you ideas about your website. I think that could be a good way to figure out what direction you want to take it in.
